The Garden Cottage is the former gardener’s house of the Villa Liechtenstein. The 70m² apartment on the first floor of the Garden Cottage is a cosy hide-away and has a separate entrance. Surrounded by the enchanted Villa Liechtenstein park and the precious rose garden, the house is situated only about 400 meters from the shore of Lake Altaussee and the next supermarket (“Unimarkt”) and about 800 meters from the centre of the village. More shopping you find in the neighboring market town, Bad Aussee.
There is free parking on the property, the apartment offers free high-speed WIFI and a modern flat screen TV. The large bedroom / lounge has a king size bed and a separate sofa.
The Garden House offers beautiful views of the park, the picturesque alpine scenery of the Dachstein Glacier and the Trisselwand. Taking one step outside on the large first floor terrasse, you see the rose garden directly below you.
There are countless leisure opportunities such as hiking, horseback riding, swimming, cycling and mountain biking, boating and running – along the 7.5km long lakeside promenade – starting directly in front of the house. Only 5km away, the newly built “Narzissenbad” boasts several indoor and outdoor pools, sauna and gym, as well as beauty and relaxation treatments.
During the winter months you can enjoy skiing, cross-country skiing, horse-drawn carriage rides, sledding and many more activities.
The Salzkammergut area is known for its numerous tourist attractions such as salt mines, ice caves, the emperor Franz Joseph’s imperial villa in Bad Ischl (“Kaiservilla”) and many museums. The famous Benedictine monastery of Admont with the world’s largest baroque library, a museum and a modern art gallery is only a little more than an hour away. Hallstatt, a UNESCO World Heritage site perched on the mountainside at lake Hallstatt, is a 20-minute drive from the villa.
